So this is a gin and a gin name that I have wanted to launch for a while.
It will replace our Winter’s Embrace gin during the non winter months.
And it is going to be a really good off-dry gin made with lots of locally foraged ingredients, including; Alexanders, mallow, bramble leaf, dandelion and pineapple mint.
As well as some new botanicals for us, burdock root and orris root, to join our juniper, coriander, rosehips, pink peppercorns and citrus.
To those who do not know the history of the term, it was a speech given by William Gladstone, then a minister, a few years later the Prime Minister. Speaking in 1862, Gladstone came to Teesside and witnessed Middlesbrough, and the whole Teesside area, during a remarkable time: the blast furnaces were raging, mills whirring and the people prospering thanks to the industrial revolution.
I’ve always loved the phrase and like everyone on Teesside, am proud of that part of our heritage. Alas, we are no longer an industrial powerhouse, but who knows, one day we could be a major force again in some new sphere. We are still very good at some important parts of industry.

As lovely, as moreish, as tropical as it sounds.
An old favourite that I have to say is one of our gin club gins that I always have in my cupboard.
I just love the tropical notes, cut through by the zesty lime, with that kick of heat at the end.Â

Signed up to the 265 club from the first month it was launched. Every box is unique, and well worth the price, with the additional well thought out goodies. Every gin is different, which keeps you subscribed, but it’s also nice to be part of something local as opposed to the mass available gins that everyone with no real gin taste drinks! Beware though… when the email says ‘trick or treat?’ Trick isn’t for the faint hearted! 🙂 Great club to be part of, I don’t think I’ll ever leave! Thanks Jay & team!

Best club I ever joined! Steel River Gin every month, sometimes exclusive flavours. It’s always a pleasure opening the box, like a kid on Christmas day, opening it up to see all the goodies inside – as well as Jay’s note. What a revelation, I was a little concerned for Jays sanity when I read the flavours behind the March gin but it was delicious. I love the 265 club and look forward to the new gins every month. It feels like Christmas not knowing what other weird things will be in the Box.
